What is a Dependency?
The Dependency function allows you to easily see how IFP files are related to each other. Using this function you can view the Dependencies of a file (which this file depends on) or Dependents of a file (which depend on this file).
It is important to note that some files may have both Dependents and Dependencies, some may only have either one, and some files may have neither.
Which types of file can have Dependencies?
The following types of file are able to have Dependents and/or Dependencies:
- Report Definitions
- Crosstabulation Definitions
- Packages
- Data Favourites
- Item Favourites
- Graph Favourites
- Projects
- Dashboards
- Field Mappings
- Code Conversion Tables
- Autotasks
How to check Dependencies
- Navigate to the manager of the file you wish to view the Dependency of (e.g Package Manager).
- Right-click the file and select View Dependencies:
- Using the two options given you can see if the file has Dependencies and/or Dependents:
If there is nothing displayed in one or both screens it means that the item does not have any Dependents and/or Dependencies.
