Overview
Database backups are provided by AJB Systems when we supply your initial database or when significant changes have been made to an existing one. You should also be creating your own database backups on an ongoing basis and prior to significant changes (see How to Create a Database Backup).
Warning
- Do not extract the Zip file using WinZip - the extraction process must be done within IFP.
- Read the warning message before restoring a full database backup!
Restoring from current List
- From IFP Home, select Databases/Files > Database Manager > Backups.
- Select the backup you wish to Restore from the backup list.
- From the toolbar select Restore
- If the environment settings in the backup are different to the target database's current settings, this will be indicated in an information panel at the top of the Restore screen. You can choose to use either the backup settings or the current database ones - or manually set them.
- Click Restore.
Restoring from a File
- From IFP Home, select Databases/Files > Database Manager > Backups.
- From the toolbar select Restore from File....
- Select the Zip file to restore
- If the environment settings in the backup are different to the target database's current settings, this will be indicated in an information panel at the top of the Restore screen. You can choose to use either the backup settings or the current database ones - or manually set them.
- If the Zip file is not encrypted (e.g. a local backup) then you will see a warning at the top of the Restore screen. If you are expecting an encrypted backup (e.g. from AJB Systems) then do not restore this file.
- Click Restore.
- The backup file will be added to the list of backups, against the date it was created. The notes will be prefixed with [COPIED].
