Archiving a data file lets you remove it from lists in reporting, importing, copying etc. but still retain the data should it be needed later. This makes it easier for you and your team to find what’s relevant to your current work.
What happens when a data file is archived
Archiving a data file removes it from lists of data files and stores it in the archive. It does not fully delete the data file, it just changes access:
- Archived data files are not shown by default in Data File Manager
- Archived data files are not shown in file selection lists for reporting or editing
- Archived data files cannot be edited, imported into or copied to/from
How to Archive a Data File
- From IFP Home select Databases / Files > Data File Manager
- Select the relevant data file, e.g. 2025 Q1F
- From the toolbar select Properties
- Select Status
- Check the Archived checkbox
- Click OK
Alternatively, right-click the data file > Archive.
How to Unarchive a Data File
- From IFP Home select Databases / Files > Data File Manager
- Click Tools > Show Archived Files
- Select the relevant data file, e.g. 2025 Q1F
- From the toolbar select Properties
- Select Status
- Clear the Archived checkbox
- Click OK
Alternatively, right-click the data file > Unarchive.
