Filter/Item selection for Dashboard

This functionality is available in IFP 3.3.4 and later.

Overview

Dashboards can have an optional Item Favourite. This allows for further filtering of all items shown in reports / graphs / editors in the Dashboard and navigation between items in the Dashboard Item Favourite.

If you have a Dashboard for forecast editing, this allows you to edit data for a single product or group of products at a time, reducing the amount of data displayed. It is then possible to create copies of the dashboard and edit the Item Favourite of these copies in order to create bespoke dashboards for individual users or groups of users.

Adding an Item Favourite to a Dashboard

1. From IFP Home click Projects/Dashboards > Dashboard Manager > select Dashboard
2. Click Properties
3. Select the required Item Favourite:
   
4. Click OK to save these changes. When you next open your selected Dashboard, the Item Favourite will automatically be applied.

Which Item Favourites to use with Dashboards

Item Favourites used with Dashboards must use a Classification Variable in the database’s basic hierarchy. This is the base level of detail and those variables above it in the list e.g. Item or Product Code for Sales databases and Product for P&L databases, as shown in the examples below.

This matches the current Classification Variable selections you can make when manually creating a Forecast Report at the Reporting Options step.

There are some restrictions on the choice of Item Favourite:

• Selected Levels of Detail must be in the basic hierarchy (as above)
• Master Level must be Grand Total
• RPDF-specific options are not compatible  (e.g. Explode by)

If any of these are used then you will see an error message indicating the issue.

The selections that are available in the dashboard item selector are the same as you would see in a report run with Item Favourite used in the dashboard. The initial selection will be the last item in the selector, so for an Item Favourite that includes Grand Total, this will be the initial view. If you are adding a filter and do not wish to see Grand Total, then select just the Levels of Detail that you do wish to see, as this may speed up your initial view of the dashboard. E.g.

The below screenshot shows a report, graph and Forecast Editor detailing the CY+1 Working Forecast for all items:

This second screenshot has had an Item Favourite added that will now show output by Product Group. In the example below the user has chosen Masterlon in the dashboard item selector, as this is the Product Group they wish to concentrate on.
