Scenario
"We have a normal IFP user who needs to import data into IFP using menu Data File manager > Import on a monthly basis. However, the user reported she recently could not find the Import menu any more."
Cause
By default, IFP normal users are not allowed to import into data files. This permission is controlled by the default Group Policy in IFP.
Solution
We recommend that you only allow selected users to import data into IFP. To allow these users to import data, you should create a new Organisational Unit (OU) and Group Policy, then add the users to the new OU. Once complete, your OUs will be structured as follows (using Singapore as an example):
Singapore Administrators
- Singapore Finance Administrators
- Singapore Normal Users
To do this, you must be a Local or Regional Administrator:
- Create a new OU under Singapore Administrators named Singapore Finance Administrators (see How to Create an Organisational Unit). Before clicking OK:
- Create a new Group Policy by clicking New under Group Policy (see also How to Create a Group Policy). Name this policy "Finance Administrators" and set the "Allow Import Data Files" rule to enabled. Of course, you can enable other rules if required.
- Set the database access permissions for Singapore Finance Administrators.
- Remove the relevant user(s) from the Singapore Normal Users OU:
- Right-click Singapore Normal Users and select Properties.
- Select the Members tab.
- Select the required user(s) and click Remove.
- Click OK to close the OU properties.
- Add the user(s) to the Singapore Finance Administrators OU:
- Right-click Singapore Finance Administrators and select Properties.
- Select the Members tab.
- Click Add and select the required user(s).
- Click OK to close the OU properties.
