Overview
There are a few different ways that you can edit a Package, depending upon which part of the Package you want to change.
Viewing Properties
Note: Viewing a Package’s settings is only available to those using IFP 3.4.2 or later.
The easiest way to edit all parts of a package is by ticking View this file’s settings when selecting to Use Package on the Custom File selection page.
This lets you move through the wizard, viewing the settings used for the Package and making any changes.
As well as updating the Package settings, you can also update the Favourites used while stepping through the wizard. The updated package can then be easily saved in the Report Viewer/Forecast Editor as explained in Creating a Package.
Basic Changes
You can rename the Package, select a different Data Favourite, Item Favourite to be used in the package or set Report Headings via Package Manager. See How to Create a Package.
Data Changes
If you want to select different Data Files or change the Report Definition, you need to edit the Data Favourite that your Package uses. To do this:
- Determine which Data Favourite your Package uses via Package Manager, as above.
- From IFP Home, select Reporting > [report required].
- Select Use Data Favourite, choose the Data Favourite from (1.) and check View this file's settings. Press OK.
- Make the required changes using the Reports Wizard. If you are happy with your changes, click Save Data Favourite on the Report Definition page. You can either overwrite the existing Data Favourite or create a new one. If you create a new one, you will have to go back into Package Manager and select that Data Favourite.
Item / Report Settings Changes
If you want to select different Items or Report Settings, you need to edit the Item Favourite that your Package uses. To do this, follow the same steps as above, but edit your Item Favourite.
Some of this is covered in the video tutorial How to Create a Package.
