Overview
This topic describes the most common locally-applied configuration and security-related settings that you should apply when getting started with an IFP database.
Setting the Database paths
You must set your Public Documents and Source Files database paths before importing or exporting anything to / from your database.
We recommend that you map a drive on your PC to the Shared folder for easy access to your files.
Creating Organisational Units (OUs)
Users are created in Organisational Units in IFP. Your Regional Administrators will usually have set these up for you, however you can create additional OUs as required.
Adding Users
The easiest way to add multiple users to an Organisational Unit (OU) is to import from a CSV file.
Alternatively, add a single user by following How to Create a User.
Please ensure that you have purchased sufficient licenses before adding users.
Creating User Profiles
As a Local Administrator we recommend that you have your own User Profile, created by your Regional Administrator. With your own User Profile, any changes made to the Default User Profile will not affect you.
Unless certain users require additional permissions or need to be further restricted, we recommend that all other users are restricted by the Default User Profile.
See How to Create a User Profile for further information.
